(This is a tip I offered to xlr8yourmac.com. They didn't get around to publishing it, so I'm posting it here.)

One man site here but updated reports are always welcome
(thousands of pages here but many are updated over time)
Include the link to the original article in your

as a reminder where to put the report/info)
Will do, thank you.
Here is my write-up:

Dear xlr8yourmac,
I have a G3 problem. I've solved the problem to my own satisfaction, but here are my notes,
which other G3 owners might find useful.
I'm seeing slowdowns. Symptoms: Typing response becomes painfully sluggish,
Finder windows don't window-shade at normal speed, and the displayed clock
ticks erratically. I've studied this over the last few months, and
while the behavior *appears* to occur at random,
I've identified 3 sets of conditions that will reliably trigger the problem:
1. Entering Sleep mode. Problem appears immediately upon leaving Sleep mode.
2. Certain File Sharing configurations. I've learned not to let my G3 mount any volumes
served by my Power Macintosh 6100 running AppleShare 3.8.3, or else
the G3 *will* slow down within 12-24 hours.
Sharing files in the other direction does not create a problem
(well, actually the 6100 can slow down after a few days).
Most file transfer is now achieved by copying files into and out of a
shared "Drop Box" (shared folder) -- obviously not what Apple intended.
(I have copious notes on this if anyone's interested,
but please note that I sometimes charge a fee for info,
depending on my workload. Ask for the file "File Sharing Problems".)
3. When I avoided the above behaviors, the problem disappeared for months,
then reappeared when I began inserting certain CD-ROMs and leaving them in overnight.
Mounting a Zip disk (as recommended earlier on your page) helps.
My G3/300 Blue & White runs Mac OS 9.2.2. Using ADB keyboard M2980 and Apple Desktop Bus Mouse II.
All slowdowns require Restart to cure them; Logout is not effective.
Macsbug shows no strange processes running in the background.
BTW here is a list of all the search-engine keywords I used in vain before I found your page
(please leave these in, and more people will find your page):
g3 slowed down, g3 slowdown, g3 slowness, slow after wake, slow after waking, slow after sleep.
:^) Many thanks for providing your web page -- I learned things.
Sincerely,

Dear xlr8yourmac,
Is it too late for me to contribute a tip to http://xlr8yourmac.com/OS9/OS_9_2_ADB_keyboard.html ?
I found 2-3 useful ways of dealing with this G3 slowness problem,
but because your article is dated 2001,
I'll only take the time to send my notes to you if you're still interested in adding them to your web page.
