An ambiguous compliment, which is a weak or vague compliment possibly intended to hide disapproval.
Complement, meaning “that part which completes the whole”. Notice the extra ‘e’. The yin is the complement to the yang.
Mixed messages, which are compliments followed by the word “but” and a criticism. These are criticisms in disguise. No compliment is intended.
